Decision-making aids when dealing with seals

After he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the university Stuttgart Bernhard Richter was employed by one of the world’s leading sealing manufacturers for more than 10 years, 7 of them as head of applications engineering of the European business division O-rings, before he founded the O-Ring-Test-Laboratory Richter in 1996. Since then he – as an independent sealing expert – passes his wide knowledge of elastomer materials, his application-technical knowledge of O-rings and his experience from many failure analyses on in his here offered seminars. His ability to convey complex coherences in a comprehensible way is especially appreciated and has made him known beyond his seminars through numerous lectures and publications. Because of his daily experience with sealing users, he knows their practical questions and problems. His independence assists him in arguing free from sales strategical thoughts. Thereby he offers important decision support in handling with seals.

After studying mechanical engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Timo Richter worked for a global manufacturer of technical elastomer products for several years. His tasks included coordinating the cooperation between central process development, materials development and toolmaking with several domestic and foreign production sites. For the last two years, he was responsible for the implementation of customer requirements as a product manager in the Life Science division. Mr Richter has been working as a consultant at O-Ring Prüflabor Richter since 2018 and was appointed Managing Director alongside Bernhard Richter in 2020. In recent years, his main focus has been on the digitalisation of the laboratory and the expansion of analytical (e.g. GC-MS) and physical (test benches for RWDR service life tests) testing options. He also specialises in carrying out damage analyses.
